Obtain the AVAILLL Programme/Workshops

The AVAILLL programme is comprised of six manuals.  Presently available are: The Introduction and Training Guide, Part One and Part Two.  The other three manuals will be ready during 2010. 

The program is highly cost effective. All that is needed is the manuals, the DVD’s of popular movies ( presently 4 DVD’s for Part One and 3 for Part Two-) and a copy of the novel that each movie is based upon. In terms of equipment, the program can be used with either a DVD player and television or an overhead projection system.

The manuals can be shipped anywhere in Australasia for use with students who speak English.  Zone 4 DVD’s and copies of the novels are to be purchased separately by the educator. These materials are easily ordered over the internet or purchased locally. In the first year, photocopying student materials is an additional school cost. Finally, it is likely that reading tests which are already on hand at the schools will be appropriate for the pre and post testing activities included in the programme.

Workshops  

While AVAILLL comes with a Training manual, many teachers have found it helpful to attend a workshop where participants are trained to get the programme underway in their setting. Workshops are run throughout New Zealand as requested.  Please contact us if you are interested in a workshop.  A number of Resource Teachers of Literacy and Resource Teachers of Learning and Behaviour have worked with AVAILLL to provide very low cost workshops.  We are available to provide workshops to groups for the remuneration of expenses only.  We recognise that school budgets are never adequate and we are committed to making AVAILLL as accessible as possible to all schools.
